I'm not sure you are looking for more responsibility, I think you want trust. I do trust you! I know that you would call me if there was a problem and that you would not let a stranger in the house. Unfortunately because of piano, twirling, hip hop, girl scouts and the events we have to be at for these activities there are times you have to do some homework in the car. I try to ensure this only happens sporadically. The problem is that 99% of the time when we leave the house we are leaving for one of your numerous activities or play dates. Not allowing you to stay home by yourself is not a reflection of my faith in you, but unfortunately a reflection of our busy lives. As for responsibility, I have asked you numerous times to help me out more, once you show me that I can count on you to take care of your responsibilities this will definitely earn you more freedom. Also, once summer gets here we will have less places to be and so there might be times you can stay home by yourself for a few minutes. The most important thing to remember is that you are only 9 years old and it's my responsibility to take care of you. I take that job VERY seriously. We can reevaluate this again soon. I love you Goose. :-)
I think your paper was very good! Although, you still have a lot of responsibility to learn for the dog you have now! You are getting better and better all the time taking care of your tasks at home. So, for now we are not getting you another pet!
Oh Paigey, Paigey, Paigey. I have a hard time believing that you are responsible enough to take care of a lizard when daily I trip over your shoes walking in the front door!! Your bedroom is so messy that you can barely see the floor! If you had a lizard & it escaped we would never find it! I do however, love you very much and I look forward to watching you grow into a responsible young lady. Maybe someday, in the extremely far off future, we will discuss a pet; but for now let's just focus on being responsible enough to take care of YOU!! I love you more than you will ever know.
Great job! Thank you for sharing your thoughts about a new dog with us. You really had some good points. We agree that it would be great for you to have a dog to play with in the yard. We agree that you are responsible. And, we agree that summer is an ideal time to get a new dog. However; there are a few reasons that this just is not possible at this time. First, having sisters that are 3 and 1 makes having a dog a little more complicated. Because we have to have an outside dog, it must be a bigger dog. That can be a little tricky with babies running around, don't you agree? Second, our fence still needs to be repaired from the tornado. Therefore, we do not have a safe place to keep a dog. And finally, the expenses that come along with owning a dog are more than we are prepared for right now. Dogs cost a lot of money in addition to the purchase price. They have to be groomed, they need shots, and large dogs eat A LOT!! And just one more to top it off...we plan on taking a couple of trips this summer. What would we do with a new dog while we are away?
Again, we appreciate your thoughts on this matter. Maybe this is something we can discuss in the future. We love you!
